Short answer

Pre-book a private saloon for €30–45. The driver meets you at arrivals with a name placard, drives you direct to your hotel, payment in cash on arrival or card via the booking link. 60 km, 1 hour, no transfers. Walk-up taxi runs €60–90 for the same journey.

The only time the public shuttle bus is the right call is when you’re going to Fethiye otogar specifically (not a hotel) and your flight lands during scheduled hours. Everywhere else — Hisarönü, Ölüdeniz, Faralya, Kabak — pre-booked transfer is cleaner.

What's included

Meet-and-greet at arrivals

Driver waits with a name placard at the airport exit. Most operators include 60–90 min wait time post-flight (covering passport + baggage). Communicate flight + airline at booking; flight is auto-tracked.

Direct hotel drop

Door-to-door. No transfer between vehicles. Hotel address can be central Fethiye, Hisarönü, Ölüdeniz, Çalış, or any side-street pension.

All road tolls

The D400 doesn't have tolls but other route variants might. Pre-booked rate locks the figure.

Bottled water

Most operators include water. VIP vehicles include cold towels and snacks on request.

The route

Dalaman Airport (DLM) sits inland from the Mediterranean coast. The standard route to Fethiye:

  1. Exit airport on the access road (5 min) connecting to the D550.
  2. D550 south-east through Sarıgerme + Göcek for 20–25 min — passes the bays of Göcek and the marina.
  3. Junction onto the D400 coastal road — the main coastal highway running through Lycia.
  4. D400 east into Fethiye centre, drop at hotel.

Alternative scenic route via Köyceğiz Lake (adds 20 min, requested specifically) — recommended only if you have time and want to see the sweet-water lake. Standard transfers take the direct D400.

What to ask before you book

The Dalaman → Fethiye route is well-trafficked, so most operators are competent. The questions that separate a smooth transfer from a stressful one:

  1. “Is the price fixed in EUR or TRY?” Lira-denominated bookings can drift between booking and arrival. Confirm the EUR figure in writing.
  2. “What’s the wait-time policy if my flight is delayed?” 60–90 min standard. Charters from the UK are commonly 30–60 min late in summer.
  3. “Do you take card on arrival or only cash?” Many smaller operators are cash-only on the day. Arrive with EUR or have card-pay confirmed at booking.
  4. “What’s the vehicle’s registration plate so we can identify it?” Most quality operators provide a plate + driver name + WhatsApp 24h before. If they can’t, that’s a flag.
  5. “What if my hotel is in Hisarönü / Ovacık / Faralya — same fare?” Confirm it’s on the route, not a surcharge. Most quote one rate for the whole Fethiye/Ölüdeniz pocket; some upcharge.

Don't pay walk-up airport taxi rates. Walk-up Dalaman → Fethiye runs €60–90 vs €30–45 pre-booked. The pre-book also locks the price (no negotiation), tracks your flight automatically, and the driver waits with a placard. €30 / 1 hour saved.
