The busy western base. Fethiye for the harbour, market, gulet quay and Roman theatre; Oludeniz for the Blue Lagoon, paragliding launch and start of the Lycian Way. Closest airport: Dalaman (40 min). Best for: paragliding, gulet cruises, the first stages of the Lycian Way.
The diving and small-village pair. Kaş is a self-contained harbour town with peninsula trails, an open-air ancient theatre and the densest concentration of dive schools on the coast. Kalkan, 30 km west, is white-washed villas above a tiny bay. Closest airport: Antalya (3 h). Best for: scuba, slow village stays, Kekova day trips.
The sunken city. Üçağız is a fishing village of perhaps 100 houses on a sheltered bay; just offshore, the ruins of Simena lie under 2–3 m of clear water. Reached by boat or kayak from Üçağız or Kaş. Best for: kayaking the sunken streets, an overnight on a gulet, hiking the Lycian Way’s most coastal stages.
The eastern terminus — treehouse hostels, an eternal flame burning out of Mount Chimaera, sea-turtle nesting beach. Marks the end of the Lycian Way. Closest airport: Antalya (1.5 h). Best for: a different vibe at the end of a long trek, fire-lit dinners, and the most unspoilt Lycian beach.
