The longest-running Kabak camp. Run by the same family for 20+ years. Cliff-terrace location with the best valley view. Communal meals on a long table, Turkish home cooking that’s the highlight of many walkers’ trips.
Beyhan Pension, Patara village (Gelemiş)
The most-recommended pension in Patara. Family-run; the same owners since the 1990s. Walking distance to the archaeological site + 12-km beach. Books out 2 weeks ahead in May/October peak.
Kadir’s Treehouses, Olympos
The original Olympos treehouse hostel. Wooden cabins on stilts in a citrus orchard at the foot of the archaeological site. Includes breakfast AND dinner — actual home-cooked Turkish meals on a communal table. Not a marketing gimmick.
Faralya Cliff View Pension, Faralya
One of 4–5 cliff-top pensions in Faralya. Sunset over Butterfly Valley from the breakfast terrace. End of Lycian Way Stage 1 / start of Stage 2 (Faralya → Kabak descent). Book ahead.
Üçağız Harbour Pension, Üçağız
Family pension on the Üçağız harbour. The half-submerged Lycian sarcophagus you came to see is 50m from the room. Half-day Kekova boat trips depart from the next jetty.
Wild-camping — when, where, what
When you actually need to wild-camp
Three stretches on the eastern half lack pension density:
- Yediburunlar (Stages 3–4) — exposed coastal traverse west of Kabak. Most through-hikers do this in a long day to reach Letoon by night, avoiding the wild-camp.
- Tahtalı approach (Stages 19–22) — mountain section above Çıralı/Tekirova. 2 wild-camp nights typical.
- Geyikbayırı approach (Stages 25–29) — final section above Antalya. 1–2 wild-camp nights typical, depending on pace.
Rules of thumb
OK: pine-forest clearings 100m+ off the trail, dry stream beds (only in summer when no flood risk), ridge saddles with shelter from wind. NOT OK: inside archaeological sites (Patara, Olympos, Phaselis, Myra are national parks with overnight bans), cultivated farmland without asking, water sources (springs, cisterns), within 100m of a village. Never light a fire May–October (extreme risk; pension dinners are the safer option for hot food).
